Language, the ability to express our thoughts and ideas and to understand those of others, is a gift given to us from God to be used for His glory and for service in His kingdom. Developing effective communication is an essential skill for achieving success in school, building and sustaining relationships, and working up to our potential as we pursue careers. The language arts components include:

• Writing enables students to communicate effectively, express creative thoughts, and transform them into written word.
• Grammar, the study of parts of speech and the rules of language, enables students to discover God's gift of words and the rules for using them in order to clearly express their thoughts and ideas in oral and written communication.
• Spelling and Penmanship enables students to effectively communicate in a written manner. The abilities to spell correctly and write legibly are necessary for academic success in all content areas and in general as life skills.
